Indiana Football Injury Report: WR Donaven McCulley Out vs. Western Illinois

WR Donaven McCulley Expected To Miss Season Opener Due To Foot Injury

Indiana football will be without one of their top wide receivers for the season opener against Western Illinois. Wide receiver Donaven McCulley is out with a foot injury, according to head coach Tom Allen.

McCullley, a redshirt senior, was expected to be a key contributor for the Hoosiers this season. He had 28 receptions for 358 yards and two touchdowns last season.

Allen said McCulley is expected to miss the first few games of the season, but he could return later in the year. In the meantime, Allen said they will look to other players to step up.

Allen Praises McCulley's Positive Attitude

Allen said McCulley has been a great teammate and has handled the injury well.

"He's a great kid," Allen said. "He's been a great teammate. He's been very positive about it. He's going to be back. He's going to be fine."

McCulley is one of several Indiana players who are dealing with injuries. Running back Stephen Carr is also out with a foot injury. Allen said Carr is expected to miss the first few games of the season as well.

Hoosiers Look To Replace Production

With McCulley and Carr out, the Hoosiers will need to find other players to step up.

Allen said they will look to other wide receivers like Ty Fryfogle and Miles Marshall to fill the void. He also said they could use more running backs like David Ellis and Sampson James.

The Hoosiers open the season on Sept. 4 against Western Illinois. The game will be played at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
